candaceserver: bare metal running in my apartment in hayes valley

how does this work?

eventually, i think i'll open source the infra here so that other people can spin up their own versions of candace. but right now, i tweak a little bit about security since this literally runs in my own apartment. so for the time being, imma keep the system arch details to myself. but the tl;dr is: i got really confused and frustrated with the cloud. like, why does ec2 cost so much lol. the laws of physics do not justify what ec2 (or any other vps provider for that matter) charge and i felt like one could do better. turns out one can. so i did. a single lightweight go runtime manages the apps you'll see below basically all for free (except the electricity cost)

available apps/random experiments/projects:

now that i have a way to host stuff and since ai (specifically claude code holy crap that thing is amazing) is getting really good, i'm just messing around tryna see what little apps i can vibe code and host on here

faq:

  1. why is this called candaceserver?
  2. candaceserver replace your cloud lmao gotem (ok no but like kind of actually i just want to host my side projects without paying a bezos tax and i couldn't help but wonder how much saas you could host on your own)
